About us

Red Librairies

Red libraries is a french studio formed by veteran sound designers and field recordists, from game and film industries. Based at Big wheels studio in Paris.

With 20 years experience in the field recording domain in cinema and video games, we’re proud to propose, in addition to our sound libraries, a field recording on-demand service. We’re studying with you your specifications, find the best locations for the recordings, prepare setups, and manage the rental of specific gears according to your images and projects. Tailor-made libraries are then delivered, properly edited, named with metadatas, ready to be used in your search engines. Multi nominated as “Best sound design” at Bafta, Gang awards, Pegases, Winner at french Pegases 2024 for Jusant. Worked on Splinter cell, Life is strange, Dishonored2, Ghost recon, Farcry2, Vampire, Heroes of Might&Magic6, Remember me, Jusant and much more….

Thibault C. Red Libraries sound banks have been a great tool for us at Illuvium. Morphosis, World of Secrets, Mutant Insects or even space battle Artillery are fitting perfectly in our design work, thanks to a sophisticated design section, but even more importantly because of the exhaustive and cleverly crafted toolbox sections that come along every library. Thanks Fred for providing amazing new products each year !
(Soon to be released – 2022)

World of Secrets,
This is hands down one of the best and most useful library I own. SOO much hard to find, intricate and unique recordings and devices

Space Battle Fighters,
So much useful and cleverly crafted building blocks in this library ! Love it Fred, pristine job!

"The first time I’ve heard about Frédéric Devanlay, I was very impressed by the work he did on Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and I knew he was the right guy for a great collaboration over the Dishonored 2 production. But when I discovered he was part of the Red Libraries team, I was totally amazed because I already used lots of their works! Top noch quality / fast & adaptative responses and a very agile understanding of needs: Big Wheels Studio & Red Librairies is an excellent solution for a audio production support". "Red Libraries have always managed to surprise me. They have this knack of creating libraries that I didn't know I needed. It's become rare to find truly original and useful libraries in this increasingly flooded marketplace. Yet Cedric and Fred continue to do so, creating some very fine libraries indeed!" “Red Libraries have been a great support at DontNod for both Remember Me and Life Is Strange. They’re easy to use and particularly well organized and designed for the video games industry.” Sebastien Gaillard " Lead audio "DontNod"

"I really wanted the sounds of the city to be a character in the film. The only way to achieve that was getting some local assistance and Cedric and Frédéric had amazing enthusiasm from the beginning. They started recording some wonderful sounds even before picture editing began so that we could use the ambiences from the very beginning of the post-production process. The movie was edited by a very experienced Danish editor, Pernille Bech Christensen, who’s really into sound and because of Fred and Cedric’s work she could use the proper city sounds immediately.” Peter Albrechtsen sound supervisor "The Model"

"I have been using the Red Libraries bodyfall collection (along with a number of the Red Libraries collections) regularly on the US TV Series “Seal Team” on CBS- the detail and quality of the recordings is exceptional and very useful for the needs I have on the show, I would not hesitate to instinctively trust the Red Team on any of their releases to satisfy my artistic and aesthetic requirements!"
